About Bespoke

Bespoke Transit Solutions is a boutique consultancy based in Boulder, Colorado, providing bus transit strategy, planning, and research services. The firm was founded in 2015 by Aileen Carrigan, an internationally recognized bus rapid transit (BRT) planner. Bespoke draws on Aileen’s local, national, and international experience with bus transit planning and design—from better buses to full-featured BRT—to customize optimal solutions for communities along Colorado’s Front Range.

We nimbly integrate into project teams and leverage our strategic thinking and thoroughness to ensure clients meet their project goals. Bespoke leads conceptual design and feasibility studies for BRT corridor projects. We also advise local, regional, and state governments and organizations on transit priorities, and BRT design standards and best practices.

Bespoke is a certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) with the Colorado Department of Transportation, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), and the State of Oregon; a Small Business Enterprise (SBE) with Denver's Regional Transportation District (RTD); and a Minority/Women Business Enterprise with the City and County of Denver.

Aileen Carrigan is an urban planner and mechanical engineer who develops BRT systems to achieve communities’ environmental, equity, and economic goals. She has over 20 years of experience in product and service design and has spent the past 16 years planning, designing, and researching BRT in cities worldwide. She has led Bespoke Transit Solutions since 2015, bringing her unique knowledge of world-class BRT to Colorado cities.

Aileen’s expertise includes BRT infrastructure planning and conceptual design, impact evaluation, and passenger amenities, and she stays up-to-date on international best practices in BRT design. Having worked previously in product engineering, Aileen brings a customer perspective to public transit infrastructure and service design. She pairs her ability to think strategically with strong attention to detail to develop a deep understanding of the technical aspects of a project while keeping overarching goals in sight.

Aileen earned a Masters in Urban Planning, with distinction, from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University.
